Recarto records WooCommerce carts that do not reach a completed order and gives store administrators a way to follow up. It tracks logged-in members and guests, waits for a configurable period before marking a cart as abandoned, then sends recovery messages through the channels described by the vendor, including email, Facebook messages and SMS.

Cart recovery workflow

The central workflow is straightforward: a customer adds products, leaves without completing checkout, and the cart becomes an abandoned record after the relevant waiting period. Separate settings cover members and guests, so a store can use one threshold for logged-in customers and another for visitors. Cart status is limited to two states, abandoned and recovered, which keeps the basic recovery queue easy to understand.

Each recovery record includes the cart contents and its current value, along with customer and activity details. Administrators can choose whether a recovery link returns the customer to the cart page or sends them directly to checkout. That choice matters for stores where customers need to review their items, and for stores where reducing the number of steps is the priority.

Ways to capture carts

Recarto offers two stated collection points for customer contact details. An optional storefront popup asks for an email address, while the checkout route uses the email field in the billing address form. The second route fits customers who have already shown purchase intent by reaching checkout, while the popup provides a chance to identify visitors earlier.

Logged-in users receive a dedicated tracking option, and the plugin also has a guest-cart option. Administrators can exclude particular usernames from tracking, which is useful for internal accounts or customers who should not enter the recovery process.

Admin records and reminders

The abandoned-cart table is the practical centre of the plugin. It retains the time, username, email, item quantity, cart total, product list, status, reminder logs, customer IP address and country. That gives an administrator a record-level view rather than only a count of abandoned orders. Reminder logs show the email and Facebook messages sent to the cart owner, making it possible to inspect the contact history for an individual cart.

Records also have a scheduled deletion setting, so the table does not have to retain abandoned carts indefinitely. A GDPR notice can be displayed after the email field on the checkout page, with a custom GDPR message and a separate message for customers who decline to receive abandoned-cart communication.

Where it falls short

The recovery process is tied to contact capture. A cart without an email address or phone number cannot be used for recovery email or SMS, so anonymous browsing does not produce a reachable lead merely because a product was added. The popup and checkout field address that problem, but they also introduce a consent and conversion decision for the store owner.

Scheduling also has an operational requirement: the vendor instructs administrators to enable a cron job on the server. That adds hosting configuration to the setup and gives the store another scheduled service to maintain. The copy also names email, Facebook messages and SMS, but does not explain the external account connections, message limits or delivery setup for those channels. Stores relying heavily on Facebook or SMS will need those details before choosing the plugin.

Finally, the stored record includes IP address and country as well as customer and cart data. The built-in GDPR notice and deletion period provide controls, but administrators still need to decide what information their own privacy process permits them to retain.

Who it suits

Recarto fits WooCommerce stores that want abandoned carts kept in an admin table with configurable member and guest thresholds. It is most useful where staff need to inspect the products and value in each unfinished order, review reminder history, select a cart or checkout destination, and remove old records on a schedule.

It is less suitable for a store seeking detailed campaign analytics or a fully described messaging platform. The feature set presented here is focused on identifying unfinished carts, collecting contact details, sending reminders and marking recovery status. For that narrower job, the separate timing controls, exclusion list and record-level information make Recarto a focused WooCommerce recovery tool.
