Horr

A horror-focused WordPress theme for gaming sites, Horr combines dark visual direction with publishing tools for reviews, game news, streamer pages and survival-horror campaigns. Its intended range is wider than a simple blog skin: the feature list covers block-editor layouts, video posts, galleries, portfolios and a WooCommerce shop.

A horror-first base

The theme’s strongest quality is its clear subject matter. Spooky visuals, haunting typography and an immersive layout give a horror gaming site a defined starting point instead of asking you to build the mood from a neutral business template. Four predesigned demos and one-click demo import provide several established directions, while the WordPress block editor remains the main route for changing page structure.

That editor support is extended with a large collection of custom blocks. This suits an editor who wants to assemble pages from native WordPress content rather than work inside a separate visual builder. Custom container sizes, a page frame and a custom cursor add further control over the boundaries and presentation of the site.

Tools for publishing

Horr gives a review or news site several ways to organise its content. The blog options include classic, masonry and slider layouts, plus blocks for grids, lists, sliders and carousels. Video and image post types help separate media-led stories from standard articles, and a table of contents supports longer reviews or guides.

Small interface features are aimed at keeping a content-heavy site active. A news ticker sits above the menu, live AJAX search returns results without a full page transition, and visitors get a scroll-to-top control and scroll progress bar. A page preloader with a logo adds another branded touch before the page appears.

Media and shop support

The portfolio and gallery tools cover masonry and justified layouts, sliders, lightboxes, and YouTube or Vimeo video embeds through the Visual Portfolio plugin. That combination is useful for screenshot collections, game trailers and visual project pages, particularly when a horror game needs more than a sequence of text posts.

For a site that sells products, the WooCommerce features include an AJAX cart, AJAX add-to-cart actions and a product lightbox gallery. Menu choices are unusually broad for a theme aimed at a specific genre: hamburger, fullscreen, classic dropdown, mega menu, sticky menu and offcanvas layouts are all listed.

What to weigh

The large set of presentation controls is also the main source of hesitation. Preloaders, custom cursors, page frames, progress indicators and multiple menu modes create many visual decisions, and that ornamental approach will not suit every audience or every accessibility preference. A restrained review publication may need to turn off or avoid several of the more theatrical touches.

The broader content features are not entirely self-contained. The listing pairs portfolio and gallery functionality with the Visual Portfolio plugin and describes the shop features in WooCommerce terms, so those parts bring additional configuration and ongoing compatibility considerations beyond the theme itself. Four demos and many custom blocks also favour site owners who are prepared to shape a distinctive layout rather than publish with minimal setup.

Who it suits

Horr is a sensible fit for a horror game review blog that needs strong visual identity, several article formats and more than one way to present media. It also covers streamer pages, survival-horror landing pages and game stores without abandoning the block editor. The best match is a publisher comfortable making deliberate choices about menus, motion and page composition, with the content and commerce plugins in place when those features are required.
